COVID-19 Update March 24, 2020
Posted 24 March 2020, 5:21 pm NDT
We would like to thank those of you who are helping to keep our town safe. For those who may be taking longer to realize the implications of COVID-19. Please listen to the words of Prime Minister Trudeau "go home and stay home". We are so lucky here in Labrador to have the ability to go out in country or to the cabin. It could be a lot worst!! and let's make sure it doesn't get any worst!
COVID-19 has halted the LTGS (Groomer Operations) for the season. This was a decision made by the Province, with the safety of operators in mind, as well as the safety of residents on the North Coast. As we all know, the primary mandate of the North West River LTGS is provide access to the North Coast, this service is no longer required.
Garbage Pickup will maintain regular schedule, with same process as last week. We ask everyone to put their garbage out by side of road NOT in cans after 8:00 am. This is to reduce the handling of bags by Town employees. Please try your best to reduce your amount of garbage, it is all a help!
At this time, more than ever, residents may be using more "flushable wipes". Do not flush anything other than toilet paper. It is important to keep our essential employees safe, and out of the lift stations and outfalls, unless absolutely necessary.
Canada Post has reduced hours to 9:30-4:15 Monday – Friday. With 9:30 – 10:30 designated for elder and immune compromised residents. We ask everyone to respect this hour, to reduce the risk to those most vulnerable.
RBC (Royal Bank) has reduced counter service to 11:00 – 3:00 Monday – Friday. Online and phone banking is encouraged.
Terrington Consumers Coop will be delivering to it's members in North West River. Delivery days are Tuesday and Thursday, orders must be placed the day before, delivery to your door. Call 896-5737 to place your order.
We would like to give a "shout out" to all residents who are helping with clearing snow from their hydrant. Let me assure you, it doesn't go unnoticed, we really appreciate it!

Remember
You can transmit COVID-19 without having any symptoms, this is what makes it so contagious.
It lingers on surfaces for up to 3 days
Wash your hands often and keep your hands of your face and stay close to home
The decisions you make now, is critical, for the health of us all!
