Notice from LGTS regarding operations in Alert 4.
The purpose of the Labrador Transportation Grooming Subsidy is to provide a winter transportation link for isolated Labrador communities that do not have year-round road access to the nearest service centre. The Town of North West River is responsible for grooming a portion of the trails that provide safe access for residents in the isolated communities of Postville, Makkovik, Rigolet, Hopedale, Natuashish and Nain.
In an effort to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 and protect residents in isolated communities, the Nunatsiavut Government is discouraging all non-essential travel to, from and between Labrador Inuit communities, including by snowmobile while in Level Four. As such, no grooming will be occurring in an effort to reduce unnecessary travel.
